PRO7 Camera Installation & Validation Procedure (Alcohol Detection)

Purpose

This procedure outlines the complete setup, configuration, and validation process for deploying a PRO7 camera within the Nexus platform, ensuring proper GSM connectivity and correct alcohol sensor functionality.

Scope

Applies to all PRO7 camera installations requiring SIM activation, vehicle assignment, configuration, and validation testing.

Procedure

1. SIM Card Identification & Activation

• Identify the SIM card assigned to the device.
• Confirm the SIM is active in the system.
• Activate the SIM if required.

2. Assign Serial Number to Company

• Access the Nexus platform.
• Locate the device using its serial number.
• Assign the serial number to the correct company account.

3. Create Vehicle

• Create a new vehicle entry in the platform.
• Enter the vehicle name.
• Add notes if necessary.

4. Assign Camera to Vehicle

• Link the PRO7 camera (via serial number) to the created vehicle.

5. Configure Vehicle Settings

• Review all configuration settings.
• Ensure parameters are correctly set according to operational requirements.
• Save and confirm all settings.

6. Confirm Configuration Sync

• Perform two ignition cycles on the vehicle.
• Verify that configuration settings have been successfully transmitted to the camera.

7. Device Power-On & GSM Validation

• Power on the PRO7 camera.
• Confirm the device connects to the GSM network.
• Ensure there are no errors displayed on the device screen.

8. Alcohol Sensor Validation

a. Display Verification

• Confirm that the correct display message is shown on the device.

b. Message Sequence Validation

• Verify that the correct sequence of prompts/messages is displayed during the alcohol test process.

c. No-Blow Test (Initial Prompt)

• Allow the device to prompt for alcohol testing.
• Do not blow into the sensor.
• Observe and document camera behavior (e.g., timeout, warning message, retry prompt).

d. Clean Breath Test

• Re-trigger alcohol detection using the panic button.
• Blow clean breath toward the camera.
• Document: 
  • Displayed message
  • Whether an event is uploaded to Nexus

e. Alcohol Detection Test

• Re-trigger alcohol detection using the panic button.
• Blow toward the camera after exposure to an alcohol source.
• Document: 
  • Displayed message
  • Whether an event is uploaded to Nexus

f. Blow Distance Test (Cabin Simulation)

• Simulate a truck cabin environment.
• Measure the distance between the driver (seated position) and the camera.
• Repeat steps d and e from this position.
• Record results and confirm sensor accuracy at realistic operating distance.

Important Note

• Measure and record: 
  • Device boot time
  • Time required for the camera to complete startup and enter normal operation
• These metrics are critical for performance validation and troubleshooting.

Expected Outcome

• Device is correctly assigned and configured in Nexus.
• GSM connectivity is stable with no errors.
• Alcohol detection system behaves correctly across all test scenarios.
• Event reporting to Nexus is consistent and accurate.
• Device startup performance is within acceptable limits.
